Miguel Ping (Portugal) explains how to get into full lotus posture and shares some tips with his friends, Sara, Guida and David. They are from Portugal visiting California to participate in Chan Meditation Retreat at Lu Mountain Temple.

What is Chan
Chan is a central practice of Mahayana Buddhism. Chan is a word originated from the Sanskrit “Dhyana”. It means “concentration”, “stillness contemplation” or “thought cultivation”. We follow Chinese tradition of Wei Yang lineage, the oldest of five Chan schools which was transmitted by Grand Dharma Master Hsuan Hua (宣化 上人). Chan spread east to Korea as Seon, and, in the 13th century, to Japan, where it became known as Zen.
